Richardson Drives American Race Cars Dragster to Win & Runner-Up in First Outing!
Tennessee Resident Continues Domination of Southern Survival Series
Millbury, OH: Scotty Richardson, generally regarded as one of, if not the most successful sportsman competitor in drag racing history, added another footnote to his list of racing accomplishments that read like a long novel. Richardson, a five-time NHRA World Champion (as well as a three-time B&M Series Champ, and the defending DragRaceResults.com Series World Champion), took the wheel of a brand new American Race Cars built Patriot Series Swing-Arm Dragster for the first time Friday, and drove it to both a win and runner-up finish before the weekend was out.
The car, owned by Rusty Fox, was not completed until late Thursday, before the duo set out for nearby Music City Raceway and the Southern Survival Series 2006 opener. There, Richardson was defeated early in Friday’s event, as the team worked out some “new car blues” and made the necessary adjustments. Obviously, those adjustments paid quick dividends, as Richardson drove the machine to a runner-up finish in Saturday night’s $10,000 main event, falling in a close final round to John Labbous, Jr. Additionally, Richardson earned semi-final honors at the wheel of his Chevy II.
Richardson then followed up Saturday’s performance with a $5,000 victory in Sunday’s event, knocking off Matt Tinnin in the final round. The win continues his amazing run at the Nashville, TN facility: since 1999, Richardson has reach the Super Pro final in a whopping twenty Southern Survival Series events, winning on twelve occasions! Richardson was quick to credit the staff at American Race Cars for building a quality machine, and thanked car owner Rusty Fox, along with APD, Strange Engineering, Hoosier Tires, Comp Cams, and TCI.
